My long and varied experiences can be harnessed for your benefit. Some ways I will work hard to creatively help you “tell your story” most effectively.

Writing/Editing
Skills honed over half-a-century since editing high school and college newspapers and early work on The Washington Post plus varied PR duties with the US Navy during Korean War and on staffs of 3 national associations and with a national PR agency before establishing own PR firm in 1976.  Talents serve a variety of clients in myriad creative ways.

Direct Marketing
Was first Senior VP of national Direct Marketing Association (1963-76). Active in DM Association of Washington, editing 180 issues of its monthly publication. Created DM programs for varied clients. Voted 1969 “Professional of Year” and life membership in DMAW. Won “Silver Apple” from NYC DM Association & award from Target Marketing Magazine. Won coveted “ECHO” from national DMA for ingenious program for NH-based computer client.

Speech-writing and Platform Presentations
Professional speaker since 1972; speech instructor/coach for 40+ years.  Offer meeting planners 6 polished titles, each tailored to individual events. Have spoken in 45 states, 6 countries. Satisfaction Guaranteed. Video demo available on request. I coach execs, others to improve their platform skills. My basic tenet: biz speeches are too long and too dull. I correct that by rehearsing speaker, shortening talk and sprinkling humor in ‘em.

9 years on Board of National Speakers Association, founded DC Chapter of NSA in ’80.

President in ’90 & ’91. Group named its highest service award in my honor.

Public Relations Pro
Involved in varied PR programs since 1955. One effort introduced dry cleaning into Russia. Promoted patriotic program to encourage cleaners to “Give new glory to Old Glory” by free flag cleaning. Another idea “saved” DM industry by my creating a system (in use since ‘71) so US citizens can have names removed from mailing lists, thus forestalling harmful legislation. Concept expanded to telemarketing and E-commerce.  Creative testimony to U.S. Congress helped recording industry maintain low mailing rate. Registered lobbyist and witness before Congressional committees and Federal agencies. For 35+ years was nationally recognized “postalologist.” ’73 President of National Capital Chapter of PRSA. “Accredited Fellow” in ’74, In ’98 in chapter’s “PR Hall of Fame.” More Details

Creative Problem Solving
Forte is strategizing with clients to determine key message(s), who to aim them at and how best to communicate ‘em in adaptable, creative ways for maximum results. Sometimes this involves staging special meetings, presentations, etc. Since ’55 have been involved with establishing and/or managing countless events of all sizes.

Pro-bono Work
Advisory Board of Salvation Army since ’85; BOD of the Alzheimer’s Association of National Capital Area since 2001. Campaign for City Museum in DC,; Manager of the Veteran Speakers Retreat since 1999.
